In The 3 AM Broadcast, writer, director, and producer Antoine Audonnet (with director and producer Lola Kelleher) invites viewers into the liminal space between reality and reflection, where screens don’t just show us the world, but stare back. The psychological horror short follows a man who wakes in the dead of night to a bizarre vintage talk show airing on his television. What begins as a surreal curiosity quickly descends into dread as he realises the guest on screen is himself, an uncanny version that speaks, moves, and thinks independently, refusing to remain confined to the broadcast.

“The 3 A.M Broadcast is a psychological horror short exploring identity, paranoia, and the terrifying blur between screen and self,” says Audonnet, who crafted the film as both a genre piece and a thematic exploration of digital-era self-perception. “I wanted to confront the idea that our media-fed personas might evolve into something we can no longer control, or recognise.”

Inspired by late-night television's disorienting nostalgia and the existential horror of self-recognition, Audonnet’s approach leans heavily on atmospheric tension and visual storytelling. Drawing from psychological horror traditions, the film aims to instil not fear through spectacle, but through intimacy, forcing the audience to ask what parts of themselves they trust, and what might be lurking behind their own reflections.

Though minimal in runtime, The 3 AM Broadcast is designed as a tightly wound experience, part mystery, part internal monologue, and part visual descent into madness. Audonnet's vision is to unsettle not with monsters, but with the creeping suspicion that we may already be our own worst nightmares.

The short is set to debut online later this month under Audonnet’s production company Unobtrusive Films. Expect a blend of cinematic minimalism and thematic ambition, this time tuned to the frequency of 3 A.M., where the line between viewer and viewed disappears altogether.
